Winter 2012 Capacity Upgauges.

Effective 1 December 2012:

EK723/EK724 Dubai – Addis Ababa – Entebbe switches from A340-500 to Boeing 777-300.

EK348/EK349 Dubai – Colombo – Singapore switches from Boeing 777-300 to Two Class Boeing 777-300ER.

EK175/EK176 Dubai – St Petersburg switches to daily Airbus A340-500 operation.

A6-ECW EK418 Auckland Diversion.

Boeing 777-31HER A6-ECW operating the Sydney – Christchurch leg of EK418 Dubai – Bangkok – Sydney – Christchurch (depart Dubai 22nd December) diverted to Auckland due to Christchurch airport being closed following an earth tremor. The aircraft was able to continue Auckland – Christchurch after around an hour on the ground and EK419 Christchurch – Sydney – Bangkok – Dubai was able to operate normally.

Boeing 777-31HER A6-EGL made its first flight from Paine Field today as BOE190.

A6-EKU Returns from Athens.

Athens technical issue aircraft Airbus A330-200 A6-EKU operated yesterday’s EK106 Athens – Dubai today as EK106D.

A6-EAL Placed into Storage.

Airbus A330-200 A6-EAL arrived into Dubai this morning as EK776 from Durban and was placed into storage.

A6-EKU Athens Issue.

Airbus A330-200 A6-EKU arrived into Athens today as EK105 however the return EK106 has been delayed until tomorrow indicating a technical issue with the aircraft.

A6-EBF EK359 Jakarta Technical Issue.

Boeing 777-31HER A6-EBF encountered a technical issue at Jakarta today leading to EK359 Jakarta – Dubai operating around 19 hours late using callsign EK359D.

EK406/EK407 to go A380 from Winter 2012.

From the commencement of the Northern Winter 2012 timetable in October 2012 the EK406/EK407 Dubai – Melbourne – Auckland rotation will switch from Boeing 777-300ER to A380 operation. This route will require a 38L configuration aircraft with lower deck crew rest area.

Boeing 777-31HER A6-EGK entered service today as EK380 Dubai – Hong Kong. This aircraft is confirmed as being in 73W configuration of 8F/42J/310Y without crew rest bunks.

A6-EDS Enters Service.

Airbus A380 A6-EDS entered service today as EK73 Dubai – Paris CDG. This aircraft is confirmed as being in 38M configuration of 14F/72J/427Y without the lower deck crew rest area.

A6-ERT Test Flight.

Airbus A340-313X A6-ERT undertook a Dubai – Dubai test flight today as EK999. This aircraft has been under maintenance at Dubai since 18 November.

Boeing 777-31HER A6-EBL operated an extra Dubai – Perth rotation today as EK3424/EK3425.

Boeing 777-31HER A6-EBU operated an extra Dubai – Singapore rotation today as EK3352/EK3353.

Airbus A380 A6-EDS was delivered from Finkenwerder – Dubai this evening as EK7380.

Boeing 777-31HER A6-EBF operated an extra Dubai – Bangkok rotation today as EK3386/EK3387.

Boeing 777-31HER A6-EGK departed Paine Field today on delivery to Dubai as EK777.

A6-EAF Skips EK107 Larnaca Stop Due to Strike.

Due to a strike by air traffic controllers in Cyprus EK107 operated by Airbus A330-200 A6-EAF operated direct from Dubai – Malta today without its usual stop in Larnaca. The return EK108 operated Malta – Larnaca – Dubai as normal.

Venice Service Doubled. St Petersburg Flights Re-numbered.

A second daily Dubai – Venice service will commence on 25 March 2012 to be operated by Airbus A340-300 aircraft. The timings are:

EK137 Dubai 1545 – Venice 2000
EK138 Venice 2150 – Dubai 0535+1

As a result the current EK137/EK138 Dubai – St Petersburg rotation will be renumbered EK175/EK176 commencing on the same date.

A6-EGJ Enters Service.

Boeing 777-31HER A6-EGJ entered service today operating EK783 Dubai – Lagos. The aircraft is confirmed as being in 73W 8J/42J/310Y configuration without overhead crew rest areas.

A6-EBX Returns to Service with Flat Beds.

Boeing 777-31HER A6-EBX, / which has been under maintenance at Dubai since 5 November returned to traffic today as EK358 Dubai – Jakarta newly refitted in 73J 42J/386Y configuration.

A6-EBA EK28 Glasgow Wind Delay.

Boeing 777-31HER A6-EBA operated EK27 Dubai – Glasgow successfully today but the return EK28 has been delayed by 24 hours due to severe winds at Glasgow. Passengers on the EK27 arrival could not leave the aircraft until over two hours after the flight landed as it was not safe to use the airbridge or air stairs. The return flight will operate as EK28D.

A6-EGK Returns from Painting.

Boeing 777-31HER A6-EGK returned to Paine Field from painting at Portland and will be delivered to Dubai shortly.

2012 New Routes and Upgauges.

Appearing in GDS systems from today are the following new routes and equipment changes.
Commencing 26 March 2012 a third Paris CDG service is added:
EK71 Dubai 0355 – Paris CDG 0905 Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun.
EK72 Paris CDG 1110 – Dubai 1940 Mon,Wed,Fri,Sun.

From 25 March 2012 the following upgauges will take place:
Dubai – Sana’a EK961/EK962 increases for 4 to 6 weekly.
Dubai – Seychelles increases from 11 to 13 weekly.
Dubai – Tunis EK930/EK931 increases from 5 weekly to daily.
Dubai – Vienna increases from 13 to 14 weekly.

Airbus A380-861 A6-EDF operated a Dubai – Dubai flight as EK999 today staying aloft for around one hour and performing several circuits to the west of Dubai.

A6-EDT Enters Service.

Airbus A380-861 A6-EDT entered service today as EK73 Dubai – Paris CDG. The seat map for the return service confirms that this aircraft is in 14F/76J/427Y configuration without the lower deck crew rest area.

A6-EAI Male Rescue.

With Boeing 777-300 A6-EMR out of service following yesterday’s tyre burst in Male Airbus A330-200 A6-EAI positioned Dubai – Male this morning as EK7650 in to continue yesterday’s delayed EK653 from Male – Dubai.

A6-EDT Delivered.

Airbus A380 A6-EDT was delivered from Finkenwerder to Dubai today as EK7380.

A6-EMR EK653 Male Tyre Burst.

Boeing 777-300 A6-EMR operating EK653 Colombo – Male – Dubai burst several tyres on landing at Male, blocking the runway and causing the airport to be closed. The flight is expected to continue to Dubai tomorrow.

A6-EDF National Day Abu Dhabi Flypast.

Airbus A380 A6-EDF conducted a Dubai – Dubai flight as EK7380 today in celebration of the Fortieth National Day of the United Arab Emirates. The aircraft tracked to Abu Dhabi where it performed several circuits around the Corniche and Yas Island before returning to Dubai.
